I have lived in Eastbourne for forty years and never ceases to be dismayed by the ever-decreasing size of green areas of our town. The Park Plan gets ever smaller as more is nibbled for development and this increases the risk of flooding for all of us who live in low lying areas, which is why we desperately need a Green Council which will look to the long term.
I worked at the Royal Greenwich Observatory at Herstmonceux for twenty-three years and was again appalled to see public assets sold off for a fraction of their value. The Green Party, which I joined over twenty years ago, is committed to using public assets for public purposes and getting best value from them in a principled fashion. I have previously stood as a Green Party candidate in Eastbourne and am proud of this opportunity to represent Langney.

Troy Tester Elected
Liberal Democrat Party. Votes 1209
I'M BACKING THE PEOPLE'S CAMPAIGN TO SAVE DGH
Troy Tester, 28, was born in Eastbourne and brought up in Langney. After a successful first career in retail management Troy opted for a different challenge and returned to study towards a new career in pharmacy. He will soon start work as a community pharmacist after completing some ongoing research.
Troy is an experienced campaigner on behalf of local people and is currently chair of the Langney Liberal Democrats. Recently he has been actively campaigning on a wide variety of issues on behalf of local residents including planning, anti-social behaviour, abandoned trolleys, pavements, vandalism and traffic issues. Troy has worked extensively on the Larkspur Drive crossing campaign.
If elected he says: "My priority will always be to put local residents first by responding quickly to their problems and queries. I am also determined, in partnership with the police, to tackle vandalism and anti-social behaviour - wherever it occurs in the Ward. I also want to focus on road safety - the safety of local children and elderly residents is an ongoing issue in Langney and must be properly addressed".
The environment is a key interest for Troy as a Lib Dem. He is determined to do all he can to increase the amount of waste recycled by local residents by putting pressure on the council to provide more support for householders.

Colin Akers

I'm a volunteer. I do stuff in Eastbourne involving young and old people. When I meet a young person I imagine an older person and when I meet an old person I imagine a younger person.
Imagine those lives to be and those lives that were. What choices to make and choices made.
But being your representative is not about me.
It's about you. My job as your representative is to shut up and listen to you. Listen to what you say, listen to what you want, and listen to what your vision is for life in Langney. Then my job is to make sure your views are expressed to MPs, to Councillors, especially Conservative County Councillors, and to the statutory community groups.
That is what being a representative means to me.
Being a Labour representative is not crowing about Labour policies or defending them; Labour believes in "Fairness, Equality and Responsibility for All". I believe in that too and that's why I stand as a Labour Candidate. If the policies don't embody these qualities then they need to be revised.
What a wonderful world if Eastbourne's politicians agreed on doing the things that you wanted. Consult with all - then do what the majority want. More like consult with a few then do what the County Council wants! Is this what you really want?
This election is not about me - It's about you. You have value, dreams and a vision. You can make a difference. On the 4th May - make a start, make a choice. Vote.
