Margaret Salsbury Liberal Democrat Party. Votes 914
I'M BACKING THE PEOPLE'S CAMPAIGN TO SAVE DGH
Margaret has lived in Eastbourne for over 30 years, much of that time in Sovereign Ward. A former nurse Margaret has three children and two grandchildren. She works as a Community Hall Supervisor and was thrilled this year to receive her Diploma in Community Development Work. "A thriving local community makes such a difference and I would be proud to represent Sovereign Ward as their Borough Councillor".
Margaret is the Chair of Sovereign Liberal Democrats. She is well known in the Ward for her opposition to the B&Q planning application in North Harbour, and for the work she has undertaken within the community over many years.
"To me"; she says, "the Lib Dems are the sort of political party who want to help ordinary people have a decent life. They care about local residents and work for them all year around and not just at election time. I'm proud to have been selected as the candidate for Sovereign Ward, and I promise that if I am elected I will work as hard as I can to represent the wishes of local residents".

Jocelyn McCarthy Green Party. Votes 181
I have lived and run myown business in Eastbourne for 16 years and have life-long involvement in both business and environmental issues. While taking a career break to bring up my daughter, I gained a business degree that lead to a Business Studies teaching post in North London.
In Eastbourne we have a fantastic environment in which to live and work but appear to be squandering this resource. If our council paid attention to some basic principles of sustainability in their planning, we and our children would have a real future to look forward to.
Our vision for Eastbourne includes maintaining the character of Sovereign Harbour and to ensure misguided development proposals - such as the B&Q Warehousestore plans - are rejected and do not destroy the unique character of our town. We are pleased to lend our support to those residents campaigning against these plans.
We also need to use our abundance of natural energy resources - the wind, sea and our sunshine - rather than nuclear power or incineration to provide clean and cheap energy to our town and across East Sussex.

Pat Bowker Elected Conservative Party. Votes 1597
Pat has lived in the Langney Point area of Sovereign Ward for 36 years. During that time he has seen many changes to this part of Eastbourne and, as the area with the largest growth, he considers it important that the Council takes residents' views into account.
A vast amount of local government experience has been gained by Pat in his 37 years as an officer and, subsequently, 7 years as an elected member.
During his seven years as a councillor, Pat has served on Housing, Planning, Standards, Joint Staff and Licensing Committees and is currently a councillor member of the board of Eastbourne Homes Ltd, the council owned company responsible for managing council houses.
Pat is enthusiastic about Sovereign Harbour and has keenly followed its development over the years. He was regularly to be seen watching and photographing its progress from the early stages. He is, however, disappointed at the lack of community facilities and is keen to see them provided on the remaining sites.
Committed to the good of Eastbourne and the prosperity of its residents, Pat looks forward to serving the community of Sovereign Ward into the future.
