Harun Miah ELECTED 1453 votes Liberal Democrat.

Having previously been a chef for many years, Harun is now well known locally as a taxi driver. In his spare time he makes community films and is a keen musician and actor. He is determined to work with others to cut crime, and to end the neglect that Langney has faced at the hands of the Council.

Tony Freebody 912 votes Conservative Party.
Tony (33) is married to Nikki, with two young children at a local school. Previously a butcher, Tony changed careers to work in a nursing home to support people with Alzheimer's. In 1996 Tony moved to Eastbourne, and has worked in the NHS since supporting people with learning disabilities who live in the community. Tony believes passionately in education, the environment and support systems and schemes for young people. He feels strongly that the proposed cuts in services at the DGH would have a detrimental affect on the people of Eastbourne, and wonders where the extra money spent by the Government on the NHS and education has gone.

Colin Akers 174 votes Labour Party.
I care about my world; my country, my environment, my family. I am no different from thousands of other parents. By volunteering to help young and old people, I make a difference; to change even the smallest thing that makes it better, more fair, more equal and more worth caring about.
I care about our democracy. I want to be part of the process that elevates us above the political dogmas that deny choice and freedom.
I have an ability to listen, a mind to create and accept ideas, a voice of reason and a persistence and patience to achieve.

Christine Quarrington 192 votes Green Party.
I have lived in Eastbourne for forty years and never ceases to be dismayed by the ever-decreasing size of green areas of our town. The Park Plan gets ever smaller as more is nibbled for development and this increases the risk of flooding for all of us who live in low lying areas, which is why we desperately need a Green Council which will look to the long term.
I worked at the Royal Greenwich Observatory at Herstmonceux for twenty-three years and was again appalled to see public assets sold off for a fraction of their value. The Green Party, which I joined over twenty years ago, is committed to using public assets for public purposes and getting best value from them in a principled fashion. I have previously stood as a Green Party candidate in Eastbourne and am proud of this opportunity to represent Langney.

Amy Erridge 163 votes Green Party
I work in Healthy Eating sector.
As a younger person, 21, I sincerely believe that the council would benefit from younger voices, it's good to have mature people, but that is only part of the story. As someone with the bulk of my life in front of me I really think that we need to confront the issues, which Eastbourne, Britain and our planet face. It is younger people who will pay the price for the failures of the past, so whether you are young, middle aged or mature, we all need to think about the future.
One of my special concerns is for the flora and fauna of our planet, all life has a mutual dependency, and if we disrespect our cohabitees on this planet it is to the disadvantage of us all.
I also believe that we should have a fair electoral system, which ensures that all views are represented rather than our present first past the post scheme.
