Susan Morris ELECTED 1762 votes Liberal Democrat.
A NEWCOMER to politics, Susan decided to campaign in her home ward because she wants to "make a difference".
"I have spent my working life in the hotel industry and I know a lot about good service, good quality and value for money," she said.
"I am aware we must attract industries bringing more jobs to the town. I have lived in North Harbour for seven years and worked here for 11," said Susan, the training manager at the Grand Hotel and a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. A mother of a teenage daughter, who attends a local school, Susan's campaign issues include doubling the amount of recycling in Eastbourne.
"No parent can afford not to care about the future of the planet - and like everything, these things all have to start somewhere. For me that somewhere is in my own community," said Susan, who is also a Guider for a local unit of Girl Guides.

Mike Bloom ELECTED 1756 votes Liberal Democrat.
A member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Michael graduated from Brighton after being educated in East Grinstead. He has lived and worked most of his life in the county where his Pharmacy businesses were based.
Having served 7 years as a Councillor on Hastings Borough Council, where he held the positions of chairman on the Environment and Licensing Committees, he moved to the pristine development at Sovereign harbour in 2000.
Active in the past as a rugby player and keen wind surfer the harbour proved too much of a temptation for trying his hand at boating; which has now become his passion.
As a health care professional, Michael is eager to see better planning and financial investment in recreational areas in Sovereign. 'It is essential that designated cycle tracks link throughout the borough and land at the harbour must now be set aside for residents recreation and leisure'.

Margaret Salsbury ELECTED 1692 votes Liberal Democrat.
VETERAN community campaigner Margaret Salsbury is standing in Sovereign ward - where she lives. Margaret, 50, was a founder of the Kingsmere Community Forum and a hard-working opponent of the B&Q development.
A trained nurse, Margaret is a widow with four children and two grandchildren. Most of her family still live, work and go to school in Eastbourne - Margaret's home for the past 30 years.
Key campaign issues for Margaret include ensuring that Council Tax money is spent wisely and she wants to make sure that there are plenty of leisure spaces for residents of all ages. She is also campaigning against crime.
"I am well aware, from my voluntary work in the community, that endless petty crime can hurt people a great deal. I want to see more done to improve the quality of people's lives through reducing crime," said Margaret.

Tracy Moles 1298 votes Conservative Party.
Tracy has a very direct approach to life. She is a self employed writer and a community columnist for the Eastbourne Gazette. She strongly believes enforcement cannot solve problems alone and must go hand in hand with support for young people, children and families.
She believes more joined-up thinking between agencies with residents making their own decisions on quality of life issues, leads to results. Tracy comes with a great knowledge on housing, and sustainable communities, including antisocial behaviour and has been the driving force behind setting up the Kingsmere Neighbourhood Management Partnership, which is the first of its kind.

Jocelyn McCarthy 269 votes Green Party.
I have lived and run my own business in Eastbourne for 17 years and have life-long involvement in both business and environmental issues. While taking a career break to bring up my daughter, I gained a business degree that lead to a Business Studies teaching post in North London.
In Eastbourne we have a fantastic environment in which to live and work but appear to be squandering this resource. If our Council paid attention to some basic principles of sustainability in their planning, we and our children would have a real future to look forward to.
As a Harbour resident, I want to see the remaining undeveloped sites in the Harbour put to use for the local community. We badly need a community centre, better health facilities, more school places and proper play areas for children. I believe that decisions about our future should be taken by the people the will affect - I support the idea of establishing a Community Council for Sovereign Harbour.
