Alex Hough ELECTED 1610 votes
Liberal Democrat.
AIex has lived in and around Eastbourne since 1997. She is a Chartered Physiotherapist and has worked at the DGH and the Eastbourne campus of Brighton University. Alex has been passionate about politics all her life, and in our town, she is particularly interested in:
* using council-tax-payers' money efficiently, including reversal of the rise in Councillors' allowances,
* preventing the new parking scheme, while improving enforcement of illegal parking,
* ensuring that planning applications are in keeping with the environment: she is very happy that we do our bit to ease the housing shortage, especially as this brings new jobs to our town, but adamant that the beautiful old buildings of Eastbourne are maintained,
* doubling recycling in a way that prevents fuming cars queuing up at the recycling centre,
* ensuring that the DGH and other health services respond to local needs, particularly those of our children and elderly people.

Rebecca Madell ELECTED 1573 votes
Liberal Democrat.
Rebecca has lived in Eastbourne with her husband and two children for ten years. Her association with Eastbourne goes back generations, her great-grandfather, Robert Collins, was invited to become the first Saffrons cricket coach in the 1880's.
Rebecca's first local campaign involved trying to save Eversley Court, Eastbourne's fine Art School building in Upperton. In 1997, Rebecca was invited to join the CPRE, overseeing both Planning and Transport Issues. During this time she fought to preserve the town's character and opposed the erection of phone masts.
Rebecca says,
"I always felt I could help Eastbourne best by being non-political and, for many years, enjoyed a good relationship with all of our Councillors. Last year, having grown so frustrated about the Conservative proposed parking scheme, I decided to become a candidate for the Liberal Democrats as they stand up for the people of Eastbourne."
"I am very excited to be part of this innovative team and believe that, over the next four years, the Liberal Democrats can make Eastbourne an even better place for us all."

Liz Goude 149 votes
Labour Party.
I am married with two grown-up children and have spent most of my working life as a teacher of children aged 5 to 15 years. I ended my career at a Primary School in the East End of London as a Learning Mentor.
Now in retirement I work as a volunteer at the DGH and with the Stroke Association. My concern is equal opportunity for all whatever their circumstances and age - particularly women and minority groups within the local community.
I believe a full review of local public transport is needed before the Parking Plan is put into operation.

Bob Lacey 1534 votes
Conservative Party.
Bob Lacey is a campaigner for the improvement of the economic performance of the town. He has pressed for the development of the St Anthony's link road to ease congestion on Lottbridge Drove and called for the removal of the town's refuse tip.
Bob believes that planning appeals should only deal with the correctness and fairness of the decision making process and not a simple method whereby developers can get a reversal of an unfavourable decision.
Bob Lacey is chairman of the East Sussex Health Overview and Scrutiny committee and is clear about his duty to protect core services at the District General Hospital.

Stephanie Lewis 253 votes
Green Party.
I am a project worker for a care company working with young people with challenging behavior, where I am an NVQ Assessor. I am also the environmental officer for the company, helping it to increase recycling, improve its' energy efficiency and use sustainably sourced materials. Outside of this role I am a volunteer Advocate for young people.
I have lived in Eastbourne for four years and attended Sussex Downs College, where I passed the Higher National Diploma course in Music Production and worked in local independent music retailer Powerplay for almost two years.
I think it is vital that young people know what is really happening to our environment so they can make more informed choices and changes in their every day lives. I am also a passionate supporter of Fairtrade as a way of people in Eastbourne being able to directly help people around the world receive a fair price for what they produce. I want to see the Council actively support local businesses to build a sustainable economy and preserve what makes our town special.

Liam Stephens 224 votes
Green Party.
I am 38 and live with my wife and three young children in Old Town. I am local registered nurse and NHS Manager. Prior to this I spent 12 years in the local NHS in various nursing and project management roles. I am deeply concerned over the state of our local health services and the possible downgrading of maternity services at our local DGH. I want to see healthcare delivered as close to where people live as possible and a local health service lead by doctors and nurses, not accountants.
I have campaigned on local environmental issues including lobbying for the creation of the South Downs National Park, increased community recycling and improvements to our local public transport services. I want to see Eastbourne Buses become a publicly accountable trust run for and accountable to local residents. I am also active in my local Parent Teacher Association.

Pat Rodohan 1530 votes
Liberal Democrat.
Pat Rodohan lives in Gorringe Road and together with his wife Barbara they have owned a hotel and businesses in Upperton since 1972. Their 2 sons and 4 grandchildren all live locally. Pat has been an activist for the Liberal Democrats and Federation of small Businesses for 30 years holding several offices.
He was a Councillor in the old Devonshire Ward and served as Deputy Mayor. Pat is proud to have been associated with the launching of the Lifeline Call System that helps many elderly and infirm stay in their homes, and has saved lives.
Pat believes that Eastbourne has a five-year window to retain its status as a major tourist resort and remain the jewel of the South Coast. However, Eastbourne needs high paid, "hi tec" jobs to encourage young people to stay in Eastbourne and make it a prosperous place to live in. Pat has shared the dream of a Science Park in Eastbourne with some of his Lib Dem colleagues since the 1980s' and will be working to bring it into fruition.
Pat will continue to oppose the Recycling Unit in Tutts Barn Lane close to local schools.
